The wonderful work done by our local children's hospice is highlighted by a new film made in support of its annual fundraising campaign. Donate to the hospice before 12th October and your donation will be doubled!

From that moment...

When a family hears the news that their child is seriously unwell, everything changes in an instant. From that moment, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is there – providing expert care, compassion and support so children can enjoy life as children, and families can make precious memories together.

Barnet-based Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice launched its annual flagship appeal, From That Moment, at the beginning of September.

The target? To raise £1 million towards the hospice's running costs of more than £7 million a year.

During the campaign, individuals, schools, and businesses in the community pull together to raise funds that make a real difference to the lives of children who are seriously unwell and their families. The campaign runs until 12th October, when the charity has 36 hours to hit its target and, as always, every donation will be doubled thanks to the generosity of match funders.

To help raise the desperately needed funds, Noah's Ark has released a new film, which features three families that are supported by Noah’s Ark and explores their experiences of the moment their lives changed forever.

"You make that call to Noah's Ark, and they find a way"

Nadine and Glenbert Tetteh-Allen from Enfield and their son Montell, 12, have been supported by Noah’s Ark since Montell was three months old. Montell was born with Hydrocephalus, which meant that he had excess fluid in his brain which left him with complex needs and requiring specialist care. The hospice supports the whole family with fun activities for Montell and his three sisters, Myala,10, Mellyta-May, 6, and Melisha, 4.

Nadine says: ‘When you’re concerned or worried and you don't know who to turn to, you make that phone call to Noah's Ark and they find a way. They find a way to help you understand the situation and overcome it. That is just life changing for us and there aren’t enough thank yous in the world. They give families like ours a chance and there aren’t a lot of chances out there when you have a disabled child.’

"They gave us the space"

Mariam Titus and Devang Ram Mohan’s baby son, Reiaan, was born at 25 weeks and two days. He faced a lot of challenges because of how early he was born, having issues with his breathing and his stomach for which he needed intestinal surgery. Reiaan then had a bleed on his brain which caused seizures, and he then developed a chest infection which he wasn’t able to fight. Reiaan was born on the 15th of April 2022 and died on 29th July 2022 - his due date. The family, from Highbury, all received music therapy from Noah’s Ark whilst on the neonatal intensive care unit at University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Mariam and Devang now receive bereavement support from the charity.

Mariam says: ‘They gave us the space to figure out how not to hang on to the anger or the sadness, which is not to say we don't feel it, but we don't hold on to it. We’re really grateful to Noah’s Ark for helping us to find our own path through our grief.’

"All the wonderful things they do for our daughter - it's brilliant!"

Helen Bolger and Simon Morley from Barnet and their 7-year old daughter Ruby have been supported by Noah’s Ark since 2023. Ruby has Rett Syndrome, a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder. She has complex needs, uses a wheelchair, and needs an Eyegaze device to communicate, as she is non-verbal. Ruby has a dedicated home support volunteer and has specialist play and creative therapy sessions during her respite stays at the Ark. Simon and Helen are part of the parent groups and all the family come to Noah’s Ark’s family days.

Simon says: ‘In that moment when Ruby was diagnosed, compared to now, the difference is enormous in the way that we can deal with it. We feel as though we can make her life as positive as possible and a large part of that is the effect of Noah's Ark and their services and support.  All the wonderful things they do for our daughter. It's brilliant.’

"A truly impactful piece, capturing the moments that forever changed the lives of three families"

Sophie Andrews OBE, CEO of Noah's Ark Children's Hospice said: "I'm immensely proud of our 2025 From That Moment campaign film. It’s a truly impactful piece, capturing the moments that forever changed the lives of three families."

The campaign film was made by MOREOVER, a Brighton-based independent creative agency for charities and changemakers, and was developed in partnership with Nu Creative, an award-winning branding agency in London, who are leading on the marketing of the campaign.

Noah’s Ark children’s hospice helps babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, make the most of every day. The charity supports those who die young to do so in as much comfort as possible, surrounded by family. By providing exceptional care, organising fun activities and days out, Noah’s Ark helps families do things they never thought possible. They help those they support to enjoy life as children, rather than as patients; as families, not just as carers.

The hospice is based in Barnet and welcomes the referrals of babies, children and young people who meet their acceptance criteria and who live in the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington or Hertsmere. Noah’s Ark’s costs are currently over £7m per annum, the amount needed to provide essential services to babies, children and young people who are seriously unwell and their families.
