The Ruth Winston Centre in Palmers Green is recruiting volunteers for two important roles: a Marketing Coordinator and an Office Assistant.

Ruth Winston depends on volunteers to provide its amazing range of activities for members. Just six hours a week per role, but you'd be vital cogs in the Centre, which brings so much interest, variety and joy to its members - as the job ads say, Ruth Winston is a "vibrant community centre"!

Volunteer Marketing Coordinator – Ruth Winston Community Centre (Palmers Green, North London)

We're looking for a passionate volunteer to lead marketing efforts at our vibrant community centre.

6 hours/week – Flexible schedule

Perks: Free lunch and travel on volunteer days

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage promotional campaigns and social media
  • Create digital and print newsletters
  • Keep our website up to date
  • Design posters and brochures
  • Liaise with local marketing partners

Ideal Skills

  • Strong IT skills (MS Office)
  • Experience with email marketing tools
  • Previous marketing experience
  • Organised, adaptable and enthusiastic team player

Volunteer Front Office Assistant – Ruth Winston Community Centre (Palmers Green, North London)

We're looking for a passionate volunteer to help our vibrant community centre.

6 hours/week – Flexible schedule

Perks: Free lunch and travel on volunteer days

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle first-level queries via phone, email, and in-person
  • Give tours to prospective members
  • Assist with bookings, payments, and membership processing using the Centre’s online system (training provided)
  • Promote Centre activities, events, and services
  • Help with drop-in sessions and room setups
  • Perform general admin tasks: filing, maintaining notice boards, receiving deliveries, updating registers and logs

Requirements

  • Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience in a similar customer-facing role
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Friendly, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Awareness of safeguarding practices
  • Ideally local or within easy commute
