A foodbank with clients in Palmers Green will have to close in June unless more donors come to the rescue. In the meantime, notable local musicians will be playing for free at a one-day folk festival to raise funds and publicise the emergency.

The one-day folk festival and foodbank fundraiser will be held on Saturday 25th April at Bounds Green Bowls and Tennis Club in Goring Road, not far from Bowes Park railway station and also accessible from Brownlow Road (102, 384 and 299 buses stop nearby, at the York Road stop).

Money raised will support Bounds Green Food Bank, which is facing closure due to a significant lack of funding – with only enough money to remain open until June at present.

This one-off effort will help the foodbank survive for a little longer, but obviously continuing regular donations of money and food will be essential for its survival.

The charity is urgently asking for contributions of £5–£20 a week which can make a substantial and noticeable difference in providing balanced meals and ensure families aren’t left choosing between heating and eating.

Snehal Vasoya, a volunteer with the foodbank, warned: “Without increased community support, this vital local service may be forced to close, leaving thousands of vulnerable people without a lifeline.”

Among those who rely on the foodbank are families in Palmers< Green. In total, it supports more than 4,600 people, including 1,400 children, offering not just food and essential household items, but a safe, welcoming space where people are treated with dignity during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

The one-day music festival at the Bounds Green Bowls Club will be headlined by Amy Belle, The Grand Old Echo and San Halen, with a dozen or more further acts playing shorter spots during the day. Entry will be free, with a collection for the foodbank.
