Enfield Council has launched a review of its Climate Action Plan, which it adopted in July 2020. It has published an overall progress report and a review of greenhouse gas emissions, both for the period 2021/22. A new round of public engagement started this week and continues until 8th January, using both face-to-face events and online surveys, and people are also encouraged to participate by email (using the address ), by speaking to their councillors and by joining discussions on Facebook and Twitter.

The aim of the evolving Carbon Action Plan is to make the council a carbon neutral organisation by 2030 and Enfield a carbon neutral borough by 2040. To achieve this, the plan set out a vision and actions in the following areas: The council’s operations, travel, buildings, waste, energy, natural environment, and influencing others

Council public engagement on climate action

climate action plan community surveyTo allow members of the public to let it have their views on the climate action plan, the council has set up an online survey and is organising a number of face-to-face events throughout the borough. The aim is to

  • Receive feedback, and discuss ideas for any amendments
  • Provide an opportunity to voice concerns and opinions
  • Gather new ideas for climate action
  • Explore ways of working in partnership.

Online survey

The online survey runs until 5pm on 8th January 2023. There is a choice of three questionnaires of varying levels of detail: the least detailed should take 5 to 10 minutes to complete, the most detailed 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Drop-in session - Monday 5 December from 12:30pm to 7pm at Edmonton Green Library, N9 0TN
  • Open-invite event - Thursday 8 December 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Fore St Living Room Library, N18 2XF
  • Drop-in session - Friday 9 December from 1:30pm to 5:30pm at Ordnance Unity Centre Library, EN3 6ND
  • Stand/stall - Sunday 11 December from 10am to 12pm at Forty Hall Farmers Market, EN2 9HA
  • Online open-invite event - Monday 12 December from 12:30pm to 1:30pm
  • Drop-in session - Tuesday 13 December from 1pm to 7pm at Enfield Town Library, EN2 6AX
  • Drop-in session - Thursday 15 December from 2pm to 8pm at the Palmers Green Library, N13 4EY
