Broomfield Conservatory re-opens to the public on Sunday 26th May after being closed for several months for repair and redecoration. The volunteers will be gradually restoring the planting, much of which has not survived the lack of light during repair work.
Broomfield Conservatory was built in 1934, but looks older. It has been planted with a variety of exotics and is maintained by a team of volunteers from the Friends of Broomfield Park, who open it to the public on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
The Conservatory has been closed for many months for refurbishment and this has had an impact on the plants. Now open again, it looks rather different, but there is still plenty to see.
Admission is free, but our work is dependent on voluntary contributions and these are always very welcome.
