Cleaning up the Pymmes Brook at Tile Kiln Lane

Tuesday 8 February 2022 11.00am - 2.30pm

Tile Kiln Lane N13 6BY

202202 tile kiln lane river action day

River Action Days in Enfield are organised by Thames 21 in conjunction with Enfield Council. This clean-up of the Pymmes Brook will be run in partnership with the Pymmes BrookERS.

Join us at Tile Kiln Lane where we will be holding a river clean-up to improve the health of the Pymmes Brook.

The aim of this event is to remove harmful and unsightly rubbish from the Pymmes Brook river. We will be doing an in-channel river clean-up, removing rubbish and litter. It is extremely beneficial to catch litter and rubbish before it leaves the upper catchment and enters into the Thames and the sea.

The Pymmes BrookERS are a river restoration charity, working to restore the Pymmes Brook that runs through Enfield. They are a small but active organisation and we hope to run a number of partnership events over the coming months. Come down and learn about their work first hand at out Tile Kiln Lane event. Use this link to view pictures from our January event.

The section of the Pymmes Brook that runs through Tile Kiln Lane has a lot of potential as a nature area. It is a stretch of river where the Pymmes Brook flows through a large green space, surrounded by trees and shrub. However this area has been abused by a minority and is now quite heavily burdened by litter. Come down and join us for a River Action Day, see for yourselves and help make a difference!

To complete these tasks volunteers will be putting on waders and jumping in the shallow river, but there will also be lots of activities to do on the banks for people who don’t want to go into the water.

Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all the tools, equipment and training so you can just turn up and get stuck in!

Location – Meet outside the Edmonton Rangers Football Club, Tile Kiln Ln, London N13 6BY.

Please also bring with you lunch and plenty of water. We will provide tea and biscuits  Please wear suitable footwear. Please also dress suitably for the weather and work! Don’t wear your best clothes or shoes. We look forward to meeting you and making a difference to your local rivers!
