Free walk and talk event: Finding Pymmes Brook

Saturday 20 November 2021 10.30am - 4.00pm

Starting point: Tile Kiln Lane N13

A repeat of the walk and talk event first held on 17th October. This is what a participant told walk leader Alison Archer on that occasion:

"It was a unique and inspiring walk....on two levels; the unseen Pymmes Brook hiding in its ugly shell and like a chrysalis, waiting to burst out as a beautiful butterfly... With the assistance, encouragement and enthusiasm of you all it may, and will, emerge ... The second level was meeting you all. I am old and find that one of the unexpected pleasures is meeting new people with totally different backgrounds and learning about their lives and attitudes."

Enfield residents, join us on a FREE, friendly, guided walk to find the 'real' Pymmes Brook!

Starting at Tile Kiln Lane, we will follow the Pymmes Brook, discover where the river flows from and to, where it’s flowing beneath our feet, where it’s beautiful - and where it’s not!

We want to hear what you think about the river, how well you know it, what it means to you, and what it feels like to discover new stretches of this vibrant river. Together, we'll be making a film about the Pymmes Brook and its people.

EVERYONE is welcome and priority will be given to people who live in Upper Edmonton and Edmonton Green. Children must be over 8 and all under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Places are strictly limited so book early!

This walk is approx 6.5km and includes steps and uneven ground. Our pace will be leisurely with lots of looking and talking and a stop for lunch. Should you wish to join us for just part of the walk, let us know and we can advise about best places to 'leave' the walk to access public transport. Wear sturdy shoes and bring snacks and drinking water! Start 1030am, finish at 3 or 4pm, including a leisurely break for lunch. Meeting point and other details when you register! You will be invited back for a FREE celebration event and screening of the film.

This project has been supported by Enfield Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
