Introduction to paper sculpture

Saturday 23 October 2021 10.00am - 5.00pm

Culture Palace, Palace Gardens Shopping Centre, Enfield Town, EN2 6SN

TICKETS £60

This deceptively humble material can be crafted to stunning effect. Paper sculpting is a lesser known art form that has many variations.

In this one day workshop, designer Dan Maier will introduce you to some of the principles of cutting, folding and manipulating paper with gratifying results.
Using nature as our inspiration we will create foliage and flower pieces which can be used for wall decor, table decoration, or 3D artwork that can be box framed. These techniques can be further developed to create your own designs both during and after the session.

Suitable for adults from 16 who have some experience of using a craft knife.

Dan Maier graduated from Central St Martins in Textiles but her career has involved working in numerous media, both on intricate and enormous scales. She has created artwork for window displays, cruise liners and West End theatres, as well as selling her designs to Liberty, Harvey Nichols and around the world. Most recently she designed the Southgate art crossing and made the 15 metre diameter fabric UFO for Burnaboy’s world tour. She loves sharing her wealth of knowledge and the joyful and therapeutic elements of making.
