Learn To Sew Palazzo Trousers. Part 1 of 2-part class

Saturday 21 May 2022 10.30am - 2.30pm

Stitch! - inside Palmers Green Post Office, 364 Green Lanes N13 5XL

With expert seamstress Pat Stevens

Learn new sewing skills and make yourself a fabulous pair of palazzo trousers with pockets.

An intermediate 2-part sewing class on how to accurately cut out and make yourself palazzo trousers to take home. You will learn to make trousers with neat invisible in-seam pockets and elasticated waistband.

This workshop is a great introduction to making a simple garment and to helping you understand the basic principles of cutting-out and dressmaking.

The skills you will learn include:

- how to use your measurements to adapt the trousers to fit you

- cutting trouser and waistband pieces accurately

- how to prepare an elasticated waistband

- how to prepare and finish the hemline of the trousers

- inserting and sewing invisible in-seam pockets

- top stitching the waistband

We will provide the trouser pattern for you. You can bring along some fabric of your choice, or purchase a fabric in advance from the selection in our shop.

We recommend a fabric that has a draping quality, for example soft cotton or rayon for the trousers. You are welcome to pop into the store for advice.

This is an improver dressmaking workshop. You should already know your way around a sewing machine, be able to thread the machine and load the bobbin and do forward and back straight stitching.

Materials Required:

Bring your own choice of fabric or purchase fabrics in advance from our shop.

You will need between 1.5 and 2m of fabric, depending on your measurements and the design/pattern on the fabric. You will require more fabric if there is a one-way design on your fabric.

CLASS SIZE: 4 maximum

DATE & TIME: Part 1- Saturday 21st May, 10.30 - 2.30pm and Part 2- Saturday 28th May, 10.30-2.30pm

DURATION: Total - 8 hours (over 2 lessons)
