Remembrance Service in Broomfield Park

Garden of Remembrance, Broomfield Park

201911 remembrance service

This is the annual Remembrance Service held by the Friends in the Garden of Remembrance in Broomfield Park on Armistice Day, November 11. This year we will be focussing on the commemoration of the local people who died in the Second World War as it is the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of that war. The service will start promptly at 10.45am so that there can be a two minutes' silence at 11.00am, signalled by a bugler, after which wreaths will be laid at the war memorial cairn.

Pupils from Broomfield Secondary School, Bowes, Hazelwood and Walker Primary Schools will be reading poems and singing songs of remembrance and there will be short speeches from Bambos Charalambous MP and the Deputy Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Sabri Ozaydin. The service will be led by Rev. Chrichton Limbert from Christ Church, Southgate and everyone is welcome to attend.

Afterwards the Greenery cafe in the park will be open for refreshments including tea, coffee and 'wartime' cakes.
