Talk: Local, Regional and National - Enfield's Archaeological Stories

Saturday 27 September 2025 2.30pm

Walker Lower Hall, Christ Church Parish Centre, 7 The Green, N14 7EG

Greer Dewdney BA (Hons) MSc ACIfA is the Archaeology Adviser for this part of north London at the Greater London Archaeological Advisory Service GLA(AS) at Historic England.

She was recently involved in the dig at Broomfield House. She will also be advising at this summer's dig at Elsyng Palace.

Learn how archaeology in London is exposed by and protected from development, how individual sites join together to tell bigger stories and how you can use the Greater London Historic Environment Record to conduct your own research on your area and beyond.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to understand about Greer's work and how it impacts us and the developments around us.

Free for SDCV members, £5 non-members.

The Greater London Archaeology Advisory Service (GLAAS) is part of Historic England and provide advice for the whole of Greater London, except the London Borough of Southwark, which has its own archaeological planning advisers.

GLAAS maintains the Greater London Historic Environment Record (GLHER) which aims to cover all aspects of the capital's historic environment. GLAAS is also involved in planning decisions across the capital, advising on the significance of any heritage assets.

A Southgate District Civic Voice open meeting.
