SOLD OUT: St Harmonica's Blues Club: Mark Harrison Band

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

202010 mark harrison

A fabulous re-opening night last week with Saints and Sinners and this Friday, 9th October, assuming that regulations and guidelines continue to allow us, we are really looking forward to this Friday at St Harmonica’s Blues Club!

It’s always a delight to host Mark Harrison and his band at St Harmonica’s. Mark is one of the best exponents of original Roots & Blues in the UK, nominated for many awards over the years, those of you who have seen him before will know what we mean.

There is no one in music quite like Mark Harrison. With his band, or in solo or duo form, he is widely considered one of the most original and interesting artists currently operating in the UK. He has recently appeared on BBC Radio 2, as guest on Cerys Matthews’s show and on Anneka Rice’s Pick Of The Week show. Mark’s unique songs are attracting a lot of attention and he has established a growing reputation for the individuality of his music. He takes elements of blues and folk, adding his own twist to produce something totally original. His music, with its memorable tunes and strong and compelling rhythms, has been going down very well with audiences of all kinds and ages. He plays with some of the best musicians on the circuit and the three piece band pack as much punch as any electric outfit.

A couple of reviews from those who know are shown below:

‘really excellent _ he takes very real things, normal things that happen in life, and writes about them in a way that makes you think afresh about them’ (Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2)

‘One of the British Isles’ great blues singers and guitarists….totally and absolutely original’ (Mike Harding)

Check his website if you don’t believe us

Support comes from Graham Hine, slide guitarist with the legendary Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts, and one of the finest slide players around with some fine original and cover material.

St Harmonica's at the Southgate Club

St Harmonica's is at the Southgate Club on Fridays - apart from the first Friday of the month. Instead of the first Friday of the month, St Harmonica's will be two days later, ie the Sunday after the first Friday (which in some months will be the second Sunday of the month).

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the club now operates differently from before.

  • You must book in advance and your contact details will be recorded - no tickets at the door
  • Links for buying tickets will be sent out to the email list six days before each show.
  • Audience size is limited to 70 people
  • All audience members must remain seated throughout and there will be table service.

Our collective interpretation of recent government announcements about group sizes is that with the Covid-secure measures that we have in place in our partnership with the Southgate Club we can proceed. This approach has also been approved by the Musicians Union. The social distancing measures we used at the Cinelli Brothers gig will all be in place with the addition of temperature readings taken at the door; anyone recording a high reading won’t be allowed in and will be refunded, and we are now limiting the maximum table size to six people. We have measures to keep the musicians safe as well as the audience. We hope that the situation will enable us to run our complete autumn programme unless Enfield becomes subject to specific local mini-lockdown measures, or the national guidelines and/or legislation change.

Coming up

Dates shown in red are Sunday night jam sessions.  Others are Friday nights.  There is no St Harmonica's on the first Friday of the month, when the Comedy Club is held in the hall.
