St Harmonica's Blues Club: Big Dez + Wolfe Hogan

Friday 10 December 2021 8.30pm

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

big dez

Guitarist Big Dez (Phil Fernandez) has been treading the boards for over 25 years across Europe and subsequently North America, mixing soulful, funky blues with traditional foot tappin’ blues grooves and rock ‘n’ roll. He took several trips to the USA which helped him to create an electric blues style few this side of the Atlantic can match. He plays Albert Collins-esque icy guitar licks and has a striking, powerful personality and voice, often likened to Omar Kent Dykes. Big Dez learned how to play the blues during a multitude of jam sessions and playing jobs in Chicago and Texas with the likes of Luther Allison, WC Clark, Billy Branch, Chicago guitarist ‘Killer’ Ray Allison, Mike Cross, Tracy Conover, Alan Haynes and harmonica player Paul Orta. He has also played alongside Texas legend Uncle John Turner (drummer with Johnny Winter & Lightnin’ Hopkins), Lucky Peterson and recorded with the Fabulous Thunderbirds bassist Preston Hubbard and US sax virtuoso Sax Gordon.

Big Dez brings with him an outstanding band of UK based musicians featuring Derek White on bass, Chris Sharley on drums and Julien D'Imperio on harmonica and vocals.

The support act will absolutely blow your mind. Multi talented Wolfe Hogan brings his virtuoso violin playing and mastery of looping technology to showcase his song writing skills and unique take on the Blues - on stage at 8.30pm.

Admission is by ticket at £10.00 available on the link below or cash on the door subject to our capacity limit of 100. Best to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
