St Harmonica's Blues Club: Big Mama's Door + Two Man Job
Friday 14 March 8.30pm
The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)
It’s not St Patrick’s Day until Monday 17th, but to get you into that mood this Friday sees the return to St Harmonica’s Blues Club of one of our favourite bands when Big Mama’s Door perform.
Fiona McElroy is over from Ireland for a few days to front her band, which comprises the usual top drawer musicians, with Francesca and Bradley Shaw on double bass and drums, Andy Knight on guitar, Martin Dewhirst on sax and Stephen Walsh on piano. Big Mama's Door regularly play their brand of Sexy 50's RnB, jazz and soul with a whole lot of professionalism and love to sold out venues. They play an eclectic mix of originals and covers that will lift your spirits and get you moving.
There is a great support duo too in the form of Two Man Job, Sky Wood with Jesse Thomas taking time out from the Blues Chapter to bring us their acclaimed acoustic set including tunes from Irish legends Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore
Two Man Job will play at 8.30pm followed by two sets from Big Mama’s Door starting just after 9.00pm. See you there.
WORST RECORD COVERS ART EXHIBITION
The current exhibition in the Southgate Club Community Art Gallery is a display of the world’s worst record covers. A hugely entertaining and thought provoking collection built up by Steve Goldman of LP and single covers in the worst possible taste. And we’d like to extend an invitation to you to view this exhibition between 6.00pm and 8.00pm this Friday 14th March in the members bar and gallery and allow us to treat you to a glass or two of wine to start the evening before the Blues show. You also get the opportunity to vote for what you think is the worst cover and, if you wish, there's a QR code link to donate to ‘Different Strokes’ a charity helping young stroke survivors.
See you there,
Simon, John, Chrissie & Dave
