In this evocative and romantic tale set in London, Essex, and Manchester, garage mechanic Luke (Ben Hardy) meets drag artist Aysha (Jason Patel), bringing colour to his otherwise grey life.
Directed by Sally El Hosaini and James Krishna Floyd, the film explores real-world issues, such as Luke’s struggles with his son and Aysha’s double life hiding her sexuality from her conservative Muslim family.
Despite an initial misunderstanding, their attraction grows as Aysha hires Luke as a driver. The story is driven by impressive performances from Hardy and Patel, whose character transitions between the powerful Aysha and the gentle Ashiq, a closeted son of a conservative Asian family struggling with their expectations and his own identity.
