Lace Knitting with Alison Ferrary

Tuesday 30 May 2023 7.00pm - 9.00pm

Stitch! Crafts & Classes, 2 Hazelwood Lane N13 5EX

Lace knitting is a delicate and intricate form of knitting that is used to make anything from table cloths and shawls to embellishments for a variety of projects.

Alison Ferrary is a life long crocheter and knitter. Her grandmother taught her to knit when she was about 5 years old and has knitted constantly since then. She can also crochet and has recently learned tatting. Knitting is her first love and she has mastered most knitting techniques and usually has at least one project on the go, although it’s usually more.

Since retiring she has learned to spin yarn using both a drop needle and a spinning wheel. Now that she has more time on her hands she loves to share her love of all things wool!

This is a class for people already with a knitting skill set.

In this workshop:

Alison will go through with you the different types of knitted lace but focus on the Shetland patterns. You will learn to follow a lace pattern in both written and chart formats. She will also guide you through how to block finished pieces and there will be plenty of samples on hand to look at. You will be doing some swatches using basic lace techniques and finish with a larger piece in Old Shale stitch that can be continued at home.

You do need to bring 4.5mm knitting needles, and a note book if you like.

All wool, a warn, happy, creative environment, and refreshments will be provided.

Date: Tuesday 30th May
