Virtual conference: Cervical cancer awareness

Online event

202101 cervical cancer conference

The event has been organised by a cross party group: Cllr Maria Alexandrou (Conservative), Vicki Pite (Labour) and Cllr Dinah Barry (Community First).

Research by Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust into the impact of COVID-19 on cervical screening inspired this conference. Cervical screening is the best protection against cervical cancer, so we aim to provide the information and support people need to feel confident and safe to attend.

Dr Clare Stephens, Co-Clinical Director for the North Centrai London Cancer Alliance, will give the keynote speech.

Dr Nitu Bajekal, a senior consultant gynaecologist at the Royal Free, will speak on preventing cervical cancer, diagnosis and treatment

Dr Christine Ekechi, Co-Chair of the Race Equality Taskforce at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists will speak on cervical screening and cervical cancer in Black, Asian and other minority ethnic women.

There will be time for questions to clarify what has been said after each speaker and time at the end for for discussion, questions and to decide on any further actions.
