[Original article]

At very short notice, Enfield Council have announced that there will be a drop-in engagemenet event this Sunday at which members of the public will have an opportunity to discuss their ideas for the future of Broomfield House, gardens in Broomfield Park, and the historic lakes.

The event, running between 11am and 3pm on the "lawn" next to the remains of Broomfield House, is part of a series of workshops and community drop-in sessions taking place during 2025. Design staff from Sally Prothero Landscape Architecture and Studio ONB will be in the park to answer your questions and help you share any ideas you have for the project.

If you can't attend in person, you can still share your views by viewing the exhibition panels online and completing the Unlocking Broomfield Park consultation questionnaire, which asks for your views on the ideas presented in the exhibition panels. For those who aren't already questionnaired out, there is also a second survey, entitled  Broomfield Park and House: tell us your thoughts...

And if even that isn't enough and you'd like more background information, you can read the brief that the council publishedwhen procuring the design team for the Unlocking Broomfield Park for the Community project.

Sunday's engagement event is the first in the current "concept design phase" of the Unlocking Broomfield project. More information about the council's plans for community engagement as the project progresses is available on the council's website.

Returns on this survey have been very poor. It's not easy, but critical in influencing the planning now going ahead. Please try to take part!

The questionnaire is open to 3rd August. This is your chance to influence what replaces the unsafe and unsightly ruin and how the two nearest lakes and surrounding area are developed.
