When first posted, this article erroneously stated that the ceremony in Broomfield Park would be held on 24th October. The article has now been updated tò show the correct date - Friday 17th October. Apologies for any confusion caused.

At 2pm on Friday 17th October a ceremony in Broomfield Park will mark United Nations Day.

Enfield & The Barnets United Nations Association (EBUNA) extends an invitation to all to participate in an event to mark the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter, which came into force on 24th October 1945, a date that has subsequently been named United Nations Day.

EBUNA has commissioned refurbishment of the bird bath in the Garden of Remembrance, which was originally donated by the League of Nations Association

The United Nations Day event will be held on Friday 17th October at the bird bath in the Broomfield Park Garden of Remembrance.

The significance of the bird bath is that it was donated by the League of Nations Union and represents a historic emblem to the pursuit of global lasting peace. EBUNA has commissioned London Stone Works to refurbish the birdbath and will be unveiling it to commemorate the event.

The event will start at 2pm and last around 30 minutes. A short introduction and historical overview will be followed by a short speech about the importance of international peace in today's world.

Refreshments will be available in the Palmers Greenery Community Café afterwards.
