We’re now in National Tree Week and the good news is that half of the 49 saplings grown from the illegally felled sycamore gap tree will be planted out this week. The two perpetrators were jailed for more than four years each. I can’t recall reading of similar justice applying to perpetrators of the illegally felled and ecologically more valuable Whitewebbs Oak. Maybe I have missed something, maybe things are progressing or maybe different rules apply for some unclean reason.
