Enfield Climate Action Forum: Tackling air pollution locally

Enfield Climate Action Forum (EnCAF) have released a recording of this week's session on air pollution. In Enfield borough there are the usual sources of unhealthy air pollution - road traffic and, particularly in winter, gas cookers and central heating - but on top of that people living or working in crowded south eastern parts of the borough are forced to inhale noxious fumes from the large waste incinerator on the North Circular Road (on top of the pollution from the heavy traffic on the road itself).
A further specific source of very serious air pollution in the north of the borough has recently been identified and steps are being taken to eliminate it: illegal burning of waste in the open air, inflicting foul smells and very unhealthy air not just in Enfield but in neighbouring boroughs too.

Hannah van Rossum is the Community Projects Manager for the London Clean Air Initiative and works with schools to tackle air pollution.
Aurora Yaacov
Aurora Yaacov has run the Air Pollution Group in EnCaf for several years and has done a considerable amount of research - including the impact of the incinerator.
Cellina Momodu Doswell
Cellina Momodu Doswell is from REACT in Edmonton and has been collecting data on air pollution and audio stories on how it affects local residents.
