Southgate District Civic Voice have reported the unexpected death of Richard Purver and published an obituary of Stanley Rondeau.

Richard Purver
The April edition of the SDCV newsletter, sent out to members this week, includes a brief item about the death of Richard Purver, a Palmers Green resident who had been a committee member for some years.
“We have just heard the sad news that our long-serving Publications Officer, Richard Purver, died suddenly on 14th April. This was a great shock to the Executive Committee and he will be greatly missed. An obituary will be included in our July newsletter.”
The same newsletter includes an obituary for another notable member, Stanley Rondeau, who died in January, aged 92. Stanley was a descendant of the Huguenot community, who fled to England from France in the 17th century and are paricularly associated with Spitalfields. An obituary has also been published on Spitalfields Life, the fascinating blog about all things Spitalfields.

Richard was a kind and gentle man, who I often met by chance in Broomfield Park over coffee and chats about local history. He, and his research, will be missed. His latest article, on the background to the Broomfield Park Coronation Gates reveals much fascinating detail. This can be found in the Southgate District Civic Voice April Newsletter. This was only Part 1, whether he finished Parr 2 remains to be seen.
