Puzzled by the alternative spellings of a part of London a few miles south of PG?

Why Harringay Green Lanes overground station, but the London Borough of Haringey?

Well, local historian Hugh Flouch has looked into this controversial issue, which it seems goes back into the mists of time, and gave a talk about it to Hornsey Historical Society, and it turns out that there have been many more than two spellings. You can watch a recording below.

The name of the website that Hugh runs, Harringay Online, may provide a clue as to which spelling he prefers.
