Earlier this week I walked the New River path from Shapland Way (near the library) to the North Circular. It's a peaceful walk but sadly spoilt by dreadful rubbish at either end. Thames Water say it's LBE's responsibility (which surprised me) so I've emailed Palmers Green's Councillors.

Sad to see. I have walked the palmers green stretch recently, and yes litter always downs the mood of the walk. To be fair the council had opened up the river to walkers and I just predicted it would be trashed at some point. Worryingly I've seen no fish at all in the river recently where I have before. Not a single fish pollution I suspect.

That is pretty bad. Wonder how much of it is alcohol and whether there are any bins provided. Trouble is some of the sections are out of sight so not much monitoring goes on. It took over four months to get Thames Water to clear the banks of the New River further up at Masons Corner which was the result of fly-tipping.

Yes, mainly cans/bottles and no bins. Thames' twitter team has said it'll be cleared this week ; I'll chase if not
