Fox Lane & District Residents' Association's website has information about how to submit evidence if you are opposed to this new carwash. See www.foxlane.net .

Be sure to read the instructions carefully and meet the deadline.

The council planning department inform me that an Enforcement Notice and Stop Notice were served on the Car Wash this Friday 14th November and the matter is now with the Council's legal department pending prosecution.

I see, however that the car wash remained open for business this weekend. It is all very frustrating.

I have written to our MP David Burrowes regarding the matter but he has not replied I can only guess he figures there aren't many votes for him down at the bottom end of Hoppers Road.

I wonder if his interest would be different if there was an illegal car wash up on Winchmore Hill Green?

The car wash was closed today following what seemed to be some kind of official site inspection yesterday...

The owner of the illegal car wash has pleaded guilty to the offence of breaching a temporary stop notice. He is due to be sentenced at Wood Green Crown court on Friday 13 March 2015. The car wash has now closed & their lawyer has confirmed in writing to the council it will not trade again “until such time as planning permission is granted”.

The appeal against the denial of planning permission has thankfully failed.

Despite having been fined £5000 plus £6500 costs for breaching a temporary stop notice, the same person as before is again applying for planning permission to set up a hand car wash in Bourne Hill, opposite the end of Hoppers Road.

Fox Lane & District Residents's Association are asking people to object to this new application, details of which are online. Go to the Enfield Council Planning Applications page and enter 15/02392/FUL in the search box.

Yes. It's happening again.

Please take the time to object to this via the link above. All the documentation regarding the whole sorry affair is included in the previous posts.

Thanks

Reading through the proposal again I noticed the following paragraph:

"This new proposal, whilst of a similar nature [to the previous rejected proposal], seeks to mitigate those problems [noise and queuing vehicles] and to that end the client is offering a sum of £20,000.00 as a contribution to creating a mini roundabout at the junction of Bourne Hill and Hopper’s Road, which has been identified as a dangerous junction. The proposed roundabout would slow traffic approaching this junction and greatly improve highway safety in this locality."

I am not sure how a mini roundabout will cure noise and queuing..

Also: This practice of offering hard cash to the council. Is it called a "sweetener"? Is it strictly legal?

Please oppose!

Thanks,

Andrew Nix
