information about an enfield health serviceAs of 1st October it is no longer possible to use the 'walk in service' at Evergreen Primary Care Centre, Eagle House Surgery and Carlton House Surgery to get a GP appointment during the weekends and public holidays. The evening and weekend GP service will continue to operate, but access to the service will be via appointment only.

You can get an appointment during the evenings, weekends and public holidays by calling NHS 111. Calls will be triaged and an appointment made for you if necessary.

Commenting on the changes, the local health watchdog organisation Healthwatch Enfield says:

"This change has been implemented in line with other neighbouring boroughs, to ensure that everyone in North Central London has equal access to out of hours GP services. This change will also mean that usage of the out of hours appointments will be monitored, to ensure that individuals use the appointments appropriately. To date, some people using the service would be better served by seeing their own GP and benefiting from seeing a doctor that knows them. Examples include, medication reviews, repeat prescriptions and fitness to work certificates.

"We are however asking Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) more questions about the withdrawal of the 'walk in service' to ensure that Enfield residents are getting the best possible access to out of hours health services. We are also keen to hear what you think about this change. Do you think it is a good idea to close 'walk-in services'? Let us know what you think by emailing us on  or calling 020 8373 6283."
