southgate adelaide hockey club logoThe latest addition to the PGC Community Directory is a hockey club in Southgate which offers free weekly training sessions to members and non-members alike and is on the lookout for more members.

Southgate Adelaide is a men's club, but shares its facilities with a ladies' club,  Hendon and Mill Hill Hockey Club

It runs three/four teams playing on the astroturf pitch at Ashmole Academy (Southgate, N14 5RJ) and does its socialising just down the road at the Walker Ground Clubhouse (Waterfall Road, Southgate, N14 7JZ).

Whether you are aiming for the top, playing for fun, young (13+) or old, fit or fat, experienced or novice, the club would like to recruit you.  You can find them online at southgate-adelaide.org.

The club holds free training sessions every Tuesday evening from 8.30PM to 9.30PM at Ashmole Academy which are open to members and non-members.  This is a great way to meet the club and a fantastic opportunity for those new to the sport to give hockey a try without obligation.  Just turn up and join in.

Why "Adelaide"?

The name Adelaide originates from “The Loyal Adelaide Lodge” of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, which began meeting in the Cherry Tree Inn in 1842. “Adelaide” was used after the villagers’ name in cricket matches between the village club and the private club of the Walker Family (now known as Southgate Cricket Club). Southgate Adelaide Cricket Club was formed in 1870 and shared the Walker Ground with Southgate Cricket Club.
