pymmes brook trail signpost in upper edmontonVisitors to Broomfield Park will probably have noticed the waymarks that guide walkers along the Pymmes Brook Trail, though they'll search in vain for any trace within the park of the river that the trail is named after, as it runs further south, hidden behind houses and passing under Green Lanes at the point known as Deadman's Bridge. This month and next there'll be two opportunities to discover more about both the Trail and the Pymmes Brook itself.

The first is on Monday 20th June, when Colin Saunders, author of a guide to the 13 mile long trail from Hadley Green, near Barnet, to Tottenham Hall, will be speaking at a meeting of the Enfield Society.

Then, on Sunday 17th July, local river restoration group the Pymmes BrookERS will be running another of their guided walks to discover some of the less well known stretches of the Brook, east of the Cambridge Roundabout. This will actually be a two-way learning experience, as in addition to passing on their knowledge of the Brook, the Pymmes BrookERS want to find out what local people think about it:

We want to hear what you think about the river, how well you know it, what it means to you, and what it feels like to discover new stretches of this vibrant river. Together, we'll be making a film about the Pymmes Brook and its people.

Everyone is welcome and priority will be given to people who live in Upper Edmonton and Edmonton Green. Children must be over 8 and all under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Places are strictly limited so book early!
