The organisers of the Fairer Funding for Enfield petition are looking for volunteers to spend a couple of hours in the evening collecting signatures at local leisure centres.

The petition has been set up by the Enfield Over 50s Forum and will be running until the end of March.  To collect signatures you don't need to be a member of the Forum or, for that matter, be over 50, as the campaign is intended to benefit borough residents of all ages.

Volunteers don't need any special knowledge - they will be properly briefed before the sessions.

If you think you could help, please contact   or 020 8807 2076.

Fairer Funding for Enfield

The cross-political party petition calls upon central government to provide a fair share of funding to Enfield, using the latest data and not the “floor damping” scheme first introduced in 2002-2003, which has seen Enfield grants scaled back by around £100 million to help other wealthier councils.

Enfield receives government funding of £496.10 per head of population while Westminster gets £917.59 per person, Hammersmith and Fulham receives £900 and Kensington and Chelsea £815 – when all the boroughs carry out the same tasks.
