Ben hears noises in his basement and witnesses weird goings-on in his local park. His eight-year-old daughter Imogen starts receiving messages from someone claiming to be her missing mother. And then there is Mr Jones —the man who haunts the imaginations of the children at Imogen’s school. But they are just stories, surely? Ben soon develops a creeping suspicion that someone is out to kidnap his daughter. Are his fears real or a result of his own stress-induced paranoia?

Don't worry, Mr Jones (hopefully) doesn't exist, except in the creative imagination of local author Alex Woolf, whose latest novel is out now and will be officially launched at a bookshop in Highbury next week.

Alex describes Mr Jones as a "psychological thriller" set in a fictional north London suburb based on Palmers Green and says it explores loss, fear and an overwhelming desire to keep those we love safe from harm. Readers have called it "extraordinarily atmospheric, dark and fascinating" and "one that isn't ever going to fade in one's bookshelf memories, as it is rather bizarre, wonderfully weird and full of lunacy!"

The launch party at Ink@84 Books in Highbury will be held at 6.30pm on 3rd February, when two more books from the same publisher, Indie Novella, will be featured: Full Wire, a science fiction novel by John McMenemie (like Alex, a member of Conway Writing Group), and Joined Up, a comedy-drama by Indie Novella founder Damien Mosley which examines depression. You'll also be able to catch the authors reading from their new books at the All Good Bookshop in Turnpike Lane.
