Local photographer Barbara Luckhurst's pictures of people and benches in Broomfield Park are still there to view on the tennis court railings, but the exhibition will be removed after the next Bank Holiday weekend (24th to 26th May).

Barbara's photos of visitors to the park have been attached to the fencing near the tennis courts since late March, but after the next bank holiday it will finally be time to take them down.

"This is our Seat" consists of fourteen portraits of groups of two or more people making use of one of the park's benches to, in Barbara's words, "turn part of a public space into their own private space for a while".

What Barbara says about the exhibition

"As a photographer interested in how we feel about and use our local green spaces, I took a walk around the park. I saw people sitting on benches together, turning part of a public space into their own private space for the time they were there. Some of them welcomed me in for a photograph and a chat, giving me a glimpse into their lives beyond the park."

What visitors to the exhibition say about it

"Beautiful photographs capturing people from the community.

"The images with their texts build up such a wonderful story of the park and how people use and relate to it".

"Wonderful exhibition. You have captured some ordinary moments in an extraordinary way."

"Delightful and heartwarming."
