The Southgate Children's Literature Festival returns to venues along Chase Side on Saturday 11th June. Families, schools, and book lovers unite together for storytelling, theatre, and creativity. A chance to meet famous authors and illustrators, develop artistic skills and enjoy a whole range of delightful activities.
With ten local primary schools already involved and support from local MP Bambos Charalambous the festival promises to be a huge success. Across five fantastic venues, including St Andrew's Church, the Halo Theatre, and the Southgate Club, there will be workshops, live performances, and special guests bringing stories to life for children aged 12 and under.
A star-studded line-up
From bestselling authors to beloved illustrators, the festival has an exciting mix of talent ready to inspire young readers. Come and meet authors including: Michael Rosen, MC Grammar, Rachel Bright, Tola Okogwu, Emma Swan, Kael Tudor, Ramzee, Sital Gorasia-Chapman, Clare Harlow, lqbal Hussain, Alexandra Page, J.D. Okoro, Will Hamilton-Davies and others, making this a festival not to be missed!
But that's not all! A very special guest from the world of Harry Potter - actor Brian Wheeler, who played a goblin in Gringotts Bank - will also be in attendance for a meet-and-greet and Q&A session.
Exciting activities and workshops
Throughout the day, multiple events will be happening simultaneously, with St Andrew's Church and the Halo Theatre serving as the festival's main hub. Here's a taste of what's in store:

Beyond the bookish fun, there will be live music, including a pianist and a steel pan player, as well as face painting, cosplay, and craft stations for kids to enjoy. Feeling hungry? Food trucks will be on-site serving delicious treats to keep you going throughout the day.
