This year's Open House Festival runs from 13th to 21st September. It's a chance to go inside a wide variety of buildings all over London: some ancient and historic, others brand new and with innovative features; some very large, others very small; some famous, others you won't have heard of.

To visit some of the thousands of sites that will be open across the capital you'll need to register on the website and book places, but there are also many where you can just drop in during the opening hours.

Below, I've picked out some of the sites that will be open in Enfield, plus a few from other nearby parts of north London. I've included a couple that are part of the Heritage Open Days programme, an England-wide festival on similar lines.

The annual Open City Festival is run by Open City, a charity working to empower communities to learn about, feel connected to, and have a role in shaping places where they live, with a mission to make the built environment more open, accessible, and equitable. In addition to the annual festival, Open City run events and tours year-round. Their young people’s programme runs city-making workshops at primary and special educational needs schools, as well as the award-winning mentoring programme Accelerate for young people traditionally excluded from architecture.
