Conway Lawn Tennis Club, which celebrated its centenary earlier this year, isn't resting on its laurels, but is widening its offer by introducing more accessible forms of the sport - Walking Tennis and Wheelchair Tennis - that can be played by people of all ages and abilities.

Conway LTC may have been going for a hundred years, but it continues to innovate by opening up the game to people who were previously excluded
The club is inviting local residents to join its brand new walking tennis sessions — a gentler, more accessible way to enjoy the game.
Sessions will be held from 10.00 to 11.00am on Wednesdays during school term time, starting on 12th November, and costing just £5 a session.
Open to everyone - whether you’re an absolute beginner, returning player, or someone with limited mobility or recovering from injury - walking tennis is designed to keep people active and social at a comfortable pace.
The adapted format uses a smaller court, softer, slower balls, and allows the ball to bounce twice, creating longer rallies, a more relaxed game and a welcoming atmosphere. All equipment is provided, and participants can also stay and enjoy coffee or tea and a pastry in the Conway Café afterwards.
“Walking tennis is perfect for anyone who wants to stay active, meet new people, and have fun, without worrying about keeping up with faster play,” says Eve Brotzel, the club's outreach coordinator. “It’s a great way to exercise gently, improve balance and coordination, and enjoy the friendly community feel that Conway is known for.”
Conway Lawn Tennis Club, which is celebrating its centenary this year, continues to develop new ways to make tennis more inclusive for everyone in the local area, and has just installed double gates and a ramp by one court, to welcome Wheelchair Tennis players to the club.
