curate enfield public art projectThe Curate Enfield public art project has moved on to the next stage, which involves commissioning artists to create works of public art in places identified when the public was surveyed back in January.

"Young people and community leaders from across the borough have been recruited as Public Art Champions to curate these commissions. The Public Art Champions in each of the five town centres have selected the sites they would like to see transformed and enriched by public art, consulted their local communities for ideas and feedback, and worked with local artist-mentors to devise and develop the public art commission for their respective town centres."

Create Enfield is now inviting artists to submit proposals for the first three town centres - Palmers Green, Angel Edmonton and Enfield Town.

For Palmers Green the invitation states that:

"The public art champions for Palmers Green have identified several walls and alleyways off Green Lanes which could host a public art trail that connects different elements of the town centre, animates some neglected walls/exteriors, and gives the town centre a stronger identity.

"We are looking for an artist, maker or collective with experience of working in collaboration with local communities, to develop an artwork or artworks that will bring colour and vibrancy to this busy thoroughfare, celebrate the communities living here, and potentially, spotlight some of area’s local nature and history. We would like the artwork to resonate with existing communities and also encourage new visitors to the area."
