Cinema update
We are sorry to update you all that the cinema project with Arthouse has fallen through. There were many different parts of the plan that had to come together and in the challenging business environment, despite the valiant efforts of Arthouse, that has not been possible. We’re very sad to come so close and know how much the community wanted this to happen.
However, through the process we have learnt a few things.
- Our community, really, really wants a cinema and arts venue and were fully prepared to help fund, promote and use the space. We’ve proved there is a market here.
- We have buildings on our high street that will work for such a space and there are landlords willing to engage with the idea of a cinema. So we still have opportunity.
- We’ve amassed knowledge and produced fantastic marketing collateral, drawing on the talents and connections from within the PG community. We can put them to good use.
So whilst it won’t be Arthouse, it can be another. We’re regrouping and will be going out to pitch PG to other independent cinemas and arts hubs with all the confidence and knowledge we’ve gained so far. We still believe and we’re not giving up 💚
