Question 1. What do think is good about the area?

Residents are friendly. Palmers Green feels like a safe place to live. Lots of people care about the area. There is a good park. The farmers’ market, if it can survive. Waitrose!

Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?

The high street is dangerous to cross. There are no zebra or ‘green man’ crossings from Hazlewood Lane to the northern end of the high street. Crossing the road to visit the park if one comes from Old Park Road/Lakeside or Grovelands Road, or to go from Broomfield Avenue to Palmers Green station is very dangerous. Traffic appears to have priority over pedestrians. There are too many shops that are all the same (e.g. nail bars; convenience stores, estate agents), and not enough variety. The lack of vision for people who think they have the interest of the community at heart, when they just want to preserve the status quo, Insufficient schools for children from a secular background.

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

Traffic calming measures and improved crossings in the areas highlighted above. Increase in variety of shops – could businesses be offered ‘pop up’ shops, low rents, to encourage them? Increase in school places for children from a secular background.
