Question 1. What do think is good about the area?

Variety of shops and restaurants, parts of Broomfield Park, public transport and primary schools

Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?

Empty shop units and too many betting shops and nail bars/nail salons. Increased crime and vandalism.

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

More facilities for the local community e.g families with young children, better and safer facilities for teenagers so they do not get involved in anti social behaviour. More activities and places for the elderly to get them out of their houses and still feel part of the community.

We lost a fabulous independent bookshop and haberdashers over the years – we need more specialist, independent shops.

Playgrounds and outdoor facilities for the whole community to use in Broomfield Park. The revamped playground is a big improvement but what is there for teenagers and older folk other than park benches?

Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking

Expensive and non existent – can never get parked along Green lanes – it must impact on local businesses.

Question 4c. Specific aspects – clutter

Generally ok along Green Lanes and Alderman’ Hill but the area around the Triangle is rather cluttered with signs. Railings are ok as they help protect pedestrians and some are in keeping with the Edwardian feel of the area.

Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture

The old buildinga are fantastic and generally maintained well. Most shops are well presented but some look scruffy and the empty units do not reflect well on the area.

Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops

Need to hold more community events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Hazelwood Fayre & switching on the Christmas lights.

How about a monthly newsletter (preferably email) advertising local shops, services, promotions and events encouraging people to come out and shop.

A Palmers Green loyalty card – where you get points for spending that can be changed to a voucher or money off in a co operating store?

Pavements - It can get very busy at the weekends and several shops clutter outside their shops when there is not a great deal of space.

Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space

Pavements are generally narrow and get congested where the bus stops are making it difficult to get past – especially with a pushchair, pram or wheelchair.

Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space

It’s cluttered where you cross at Barclays Bank over to WHSmith.

Can new public toilets be put in place that are safe and clean to use – it is a nightmare when you have young children and they inevitably need the loo and you are in the middle of Green Lanes! Not many shops allow you to use their facilities.

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

Need more - would make the Triangle less of a redundant space.

Any other comments

The Christmas decorations are something that makes Palmers Green stand out when compared to other areas of the borough. Well done – keep this going!
