Palmers Green Town Centre Improvement Project 2012: Survey responses

Question 1. What do think is good about the area?

good transport links for central London

- a good variety of shops locally

– a park with plenty of potential

- decent varied and affordable housing stock for young families.

Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?

Traffic flow in the area requires much greater thought and attention from planners especially now that the A406 roadworks near completion. Roads east of Green lanes (Lakes Estate) are used at cut-throughs especially by vans and delivery lorries. I see minor RTAs and road rage disputes on my road (Old Park Road) regularly.

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

Closure of rat runs in the area which cause pollution, noise and are a risk to our children. The quality of my life and that of my family has been vastly improved by the recent temporary closure of Old Park Road for water main repairs. Old park Road is used by many pedestrians walking to the station as well as those using the doctors surgery.

Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic

Part of the area concerned is a conservation area and multi-national chain store should be sensitive to in our shopping parades.

Also – if the Lakes Estate is a conservation area shouldn’t this also apply to the highway agency in their use of signs and business like BT in their use of street furniture

The area feels completely naked without the tree at the Triangle. I know that a new tree will be planted this year but more is needed to make this focal point of our community again –ie- improve the clutter of signage and 1970s walkway barriers

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

Much more please – there should be more greenery at and around the Triangle – the planting of one great tree is only a start.
