Question 1.  What do think is good about the area?

Good – divers mix of people, reasonable public transport; you have the basics- park, supermarket, library. Good roads leading in and out of town

Question 2.  What do you think is less good about the area?

Less good  -grubby; not green enough in main street, overall not a cohesive look to the town centre; feels a bit rough sometimes

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

Improve – cleaner , greener more creative shopping opportunities

Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic

Traffic – quite congested especially on green lanes. Rather fast – could reduce speed limit? Green lanes and triangle horrible to cycle on. Ceaseless stream of traffic

Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking

Parking – I don’t drive so can’t answer

Question 4c. Specific aspects – clutter

Clutter – very cluttered with no visual cohesion

Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture

Look of shops – above shop level great – at shop level grubby and ugly

Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops

Type of shops – Baskervilles tea shop  a beacon of fresh, well thought out business – just what we need –community focused, not a chain, great product and visually really inviting. Far too many pound shops. The fox and Alfred herring are unimaginative, boozy, off putting and not family focused. Keep the areas rough image.

Bookshop?

?? right ?? quality clothing shop

Craft shop (loads of mums and kids in the area)

“pop up” shops

Nice toy shop –not “toys r us”. Independent

Generally encourage more independent retailers

Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space

Pavement space – wide pavements are wasted because of the traffic. The large homes towards  hedge lane have horribly maintained unattractive drives – depressing and imply an economic wasteland

Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space

Triangle – I don’t know if its possible but it would be wonderful to pedestrianize this area or crate a shared traffic / pedestrian space (like by the museum in Kensington). At least clear the are and do some really fresh, vibrant planting - ???? the WC’s

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

Greenery  -more would be nice!

Any other comments

Other  -there is so much potential in this area – it already has some convenient retail outlets but is let down by a terrible, grubby, un joined up aesthetic. Special business rates for fresh new “locally grown” start-up retail outlets.
