An opportunity to share your thoughts and have a say on how the Southgate Office Village site should be redeveloped.

Join us to share your thoughts and have a say on how the Southgate Office Village in Chase Road (next to the Hart pub) should be redeveloped. This is an opportunity to discuss what you think should be on the site.

At the moment there is a proposal to rebuild Southgate Office Village as a mixed-office and housing development, which will include several tall buildings, including an 18-storey tower. Southgate District Civic Trust is supportive of any improvement on what we see as a sustainable location, however, we feel the engagement with the community has not been as meaningful as it could have been.

Southgate District Civic Trust is organising this day, to give the people who live or work, or have an interest in Southgate the opportunity to learn a bit more about the decision-making process and to discuss what development you could support on this site.

We want the community to be at the heart of determining the future for Southgate: ‘Choose Your Future or Someone Else Will '.

The day will start at 9.30am and finish at 3.00pm. You do not have to attend for the full day, but the longer you can be there, the greater your opportunity to feed into the final report.

This is NOT a Council event and is completely independent of the developer.

Southgate District Civic Trust is an independent voice, for the area covered by the old Borough of Southgate, particularly on issues concerning the built environment. We are members of Civic Voice, the national charity for civic societies across England and have asked Civic Voice to independently facilitate this day. They are not being paid and are doing this as part of their own charitable objectives.

Civic Voice will produce a summary report from the day and will outline the key principles that the community support and object too. The summary report will be presented back to the community on Monday night at a venue to be confirmed.

This event is free and open to everyone living or working in Southgate or who has an interest in Southgate.

Date & venue:
Saturday 22nd June 9:30am – 3pm St Andrew’s Church, Chase Side, N14 5PP
Community Feedback: Monday 24th June 6:30pm – 8:30pm - venue to be confirmed

If this is unrelated and unconnected to either the Council or the Developer, what happens to the views expressed on the day? What good does this do?

Does the Civic Trust then engage with these two stakeholders, to represent the local Southgate view, and request amendments etc?

Civic Voice will record the ideas /suggestions/comments expressed by the people attending the event on 22nd June and will prepare a report to be presented to those attending the summary meeting at The Hub, Southgate College, High Street, Southgate N14 6BS between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday 24th June.

This is an open meeting and Councillors, MP and planners and the applicant have been invited to attend.

SDCT is represented on the Enfield Council Conservation Advisory Group and the views will be presented to that consultation group.

The developers have now submitted a planning application. Go to the Planning Portal and search for 19/01941/FUL.

The community view meeting on 22nd June is being facilitated by the national charity Civic Voice, to which Southgate District Civic Trust is affiliated. As part of their preparation Civic Voice created a short survey. Even if you are not planning to attend, it would be extremely useful if you could complete the survey. The more responses received the easier it will be to understand the views of those living and working in Southgate.

Click here to go to the survey .

Click here to register for the meeting on the 22nd.

The meeting starts at 9.30am and will finish 3pm. No need to stay the whole time, but the longer you do, the more opportunity to feed into the final report.

Details of the community feedback event on 24th June. At this meeting Civic Voice will present their report based on the views of community members expressed at the first meeting or in the survey.
