More than 60 children from schools across north London and Hertfordshire came together last Thursday to showcase their amazing ability at a new event called Ivy’s Got Talent.

Six primary schools took part in the show at the Dugdale Centre in Enfield Town, which was organised by the Ivy Learning Trust to celebrate the talent and diversity of its family of schools: Lavender, Churchfield, Brimsdown, Eastfield, Larkspur and Walker.

The acts ranged from singing, cajon drumming and playing musical instruments to Indian dancing, gymnastics and performance art. The children performed to a packed-out theatre of proud parents from all six schools.

Selda Agca, whose son Yusuf goes to Eastfield Primary School, said: "Seeing my son perform with such confidence not only shocked us but simultaneously filled us with pride. An emotional moment for us all!"

The show was the first of its kind, but it's hoped that Ivy’s Got Talent will become a regular event. Deborah Thompson, Chair of the Trust, said: "Watching the children perform was a really proud moment for us all, they absolutely blew us away with their passion, ability and dedication and it’s hard to believe that they’re only primary school age."

Matthew Kleiner-Mann, Ivy Trust Leader, added: "The aim of the event was to bring our family of schools together to celebrate and showcase their talent and it was amazing to see such a range and cultural diversity of performances. It was a wonderful evening for the children, parents and teachers. "

The compere for the evening was eight-year-old Tahani Shegow, from Churchfield Primary School, who introduced each act. She said: "Never be afraid to show your abilities to the world. It was so exciting to be a part of the event and everyone had a great time."
