Young people, parents and carers are invited to feed into a study into the challenges encountered by young neurodivergent people when using streets and roads. For comparison purposes, the study is also seeking input from young neurotypical children and their carers.

The Road Safety Foundation is inviting children, young people, parents and carers to help shape safer and more inclusive journeys as part of a new research project funded by the Road Safety Trust.

The project aims to better understand how neurodivergent children of all ages and young people aged 16–24 experience roads and streets, including the challenges they may face when travelling to school, college, work or other destinations.

The Foundation is seeking views from neurodivergent young people themselves, as well as parents and carers of neurodivergent children and young people.

It is also looking for neurotypical young people aged 16–24 and parents or carers of neurotypical children and young people to take part, providing a comparison that will help researchers understand the experiences of neurodivergent participants.

There are two ways of becoming involved:

  • Filling in an online survey
  • Downloading the YEA Youth Engagement App onto a phone - this will help researchers build up a better picture of how children and young people experience their local roads and streets.
