Southgate Office Village redevelopment: Sounding out the wider community viewpoint

In response to the results of a 'Community View' process held last week, in which the majority of participants expressed opposition to the proposal to construct several tall buildings near Southgate Circus - one of them 17 storeys high - Enfield Council has indicated that it will be taking steps to widen engagement in the process for dealing with the planning application, including convening a special Planning Panel meeting.

Another successful year for Conservatory volunteers

The team of volunteers who look after the plants in Broomfield Conservatory and open it to the public twice a week had another successful year in 2017.  June Dawes sums up the year. Earlier today the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, chaired by Jo’s friends Seema Kennedy MP and Rachel Reeves MP, launched a report on its findings in Batley alongside Jo’s family. Southgate Civic Week: Programme details announced

Civic Trust receives award for "outstanding effort"

SDCT members show off their Civic Day Award. L-to-R: Chris Horner (coordinator of Civic Week), Elaine Tyler, Graham Davis, Jane Maggs (SDCT Secretary) Southgate District Civic Trust has won the 2016 Civic Day Award, awarded by the national charity Civic Voice for its "outstanding effort for Civic Day".
