Broomfield Park friends celebrate a bumper year for community events

Friends of Broomfield Park are celebrating the end of an event-packed year for Palmers Green's favourite park, during which more than 13,000 people visited to take part in activities including music, theatre, dance, storytelling, well-being, apple tasting, food and much more. Dates of the 2020 events are already on the Friends' website.

Following the official launch last week of the borough's new Heritage Strategy, Enfield Council is encouraging community groups to propose ideas for local heritage projects that could attract funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). Recent changes to NLHF priorities mean that projects in Enfield should stand a higher chance of success when bidding for funds.

Southgate Office Village redevelopment: Sounding out the wider community viewpoint

In response to the results of a 'Community View' process held last week, in which the majority of participants expressed opposition to the proposal to construct several tall buildings near Southgate Circus - one of them 17 storeys high - Enfield Council has indicated that it will be taking steps to widen engagement in the process for dealing with the planning application, including convening a special Planning Panel meeting.

The team of volunteers who look after the plants in Broomfield Conservatory and open it to the public twice a week had another successful year in 2017.  June Dawes sums up the year. Broomfield Conservatory volunteers enjoy some rare January sunshine while celebrating another successful year.  The team won an Enfield in Bloom Gold award in 2017 - the Conservatory Committee chair, Elizabeth Dobbie, is in the centre of the front row, holding the cup It has been another good.......
