The profiles contain demographic, environmental and socioeconomic factors, and comparisons with borough-wide, London-wide and national averages

Details of revised collection dates for rubbish and recycling are available on the council website. There are several ways you can dispose of real Christmas trees - you can put them in your green garden waste bin, take them to a park, book an appointment at Barrowell Green or book a kerbside collection in advance - booking is already open.

Council responds to alternative proposals for the Dugdale Centre

Enfield Council has rejected the Enfield Society's alternative proposals for the future of the Dugdale Centre, claiming that the £20,000 that the Society was offering to donate will not offset the hundreds of thousands of pounds a year savings that the council's plans will provide.

In March, despite protests, Enfield's cabinet agreed to go ahead with a plan to set up a centralised children and families hub on the first and second floors, despite, it seems, not having identified a suitable new home for the borough's well regarded archives and local history library. Ever since local the Enfield Society and other civic sector organisations have been seeking in vain to enter into satisfactory dialogue with the council about this. They have now published an alternative plan which, they say, would not only allow the museum and archives to remain at the Dugdale, along with conference facilities and rooms for hire by community organisations, but would actually save more money than the council's proposal.

Enfield Council is making changes to arrangements for collection of waste and recyclables. Aluminium foil and carrier bags can now be recycled, but from 5th October households will no longer be able to put out extra bags of general waste.

Cuts to London youth services continuing

Sian Berry, one of two Green members of the London Assembly, has issued her fifth report on cuts to youth services in the capital. Her data shows that, after nearly a decade of austerity, councils in London are still feeling forced to take money out of vital youth services with a further £2.2m removed. Enfield's youth services budget for 2019-20 amounted to a mere 14 per cent of the amount budgeted for 2011-12.

As of 6th July Barrowell Green recycling centre has been accepting a wider range of items for recycling or disposal. It remains obligatory to have an appointment and there is still no pedestrian access.

Council sets up new free-phone domestic abuse advice and reporting hub

Enfield Council and its partners have set up a dedicated domestic abuse hub to help tackle increasing numbers of cases caused by the COVID-19 lockdown. The free phone number 0800 923 9009 is available Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

In summary: Barrowell Green recycling centre remains closed; All four household waste collection services are continuing; To cope with extra waste generated during the crisis, street cleaning teams will collect bags of 'side waste' - up to two additional sacks per collection; Avoid big 'clear-outs' and do not put out large items; Double-bag potentially contaminated items.
