Phase 2 of the planned public realm improvements to Enfield Town has been broken up into subphases. Funding has been found for the first of them and work to implement the changes, benefiting primarily pedestrians, is due to start on 20th October and last around three months.

Enfield Council has published its plans for the second phase of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood project. The formal statutory consultation phase runs until 13 July. The project involves improvements to roads and pavements aimed primarily at making Enfield Town safer and pleasanter for people moving around on foot, using mobility scooters and wheelchairs, or cycling.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly built 'Sadlers Square' this Saturday will mark the formal completion of the first phase of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood project. Attendees are afterwards invited to take refreshments at Enfield Town Library. The council is currently seeking funding for the next phase of the project, which will improve the environment around Enfield Town Station..

Construction work on the initial phase of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood scheme is due to begin this week. Phase 1 will bring improvements for pedestrians in the western part of the borough's main town centre, in particular making it easier and safer to access the Library Green and Town Park on foot from Church Street. A new public square will be created near the post office.

Enfield Council's 'Liveable Neighbourhoods' project for improvements to the public realm in Enfield Town has already progressed through four stages of public engagement since 2019, designed to find out people's views and improve the design. Funding is now in place for phase 1 - covering the north western corner of the scheme - and the statutory consultation period has begun, running until 3rd March.

Enfield Council has published an updated version of the Enfield Town Improvement Plan, which it hopes to carry out in 2024, depending on the outcome of statutory consultation in 2023. A new phase of public engagement is now under way between now and 25th September, seeking views on how well the plan meets the design principles, asking for ideas about a proposed sensory garden, and including a competition for the best suggested name of a new public square. The changes are designed to make Enfield Town more people-friendly, bustling and vibrant and to reduce car use through improvements to arrangements for walking, cycling and using public transport.

Enfield Council has issued a report summarising the views obtained from residents during the second round of community engagement about planned improvements to the public realm in Enfield Town. It will also be presenting the same information at two webinars (online events) in late June and early July. Updated proposals will be published in winter 2021.

Enfield Council's proposals for Liveable Neighbourhoods improvements to Enfield Town will make walking around the Town much easier and safer. Disabled people will benefit from 14 new blue badge bays. For those visiting or passing through by bike, there will be through cycle routes, mainly taking the form of protected lanes, but they will not go along the main part of Church Street. Public spaces will be enhanced.
