Local social enterprise Cooking Champions is continuing to help feed hungry individuals and families and is currently operating from St Peter's Church in Grange Park. For Halloween, to raise money for its own use and also in support of The Little Things charity, Cooking Champions ran a couple of special events, one of which was a home-delivered Italian menu. The menu, under the supervision of PG resident and Leith-trained chef Clare Donovan, sold out quickly, so if you'd like to take advantage of Thai menu on Friday 13th or Saturday 14th November, you need to act fast.

A new era for MyTime

The ever enterprising Brian Lewis has converted his MyTime cake, coffee and tea house into Palmers Green's first deli specialising in organic and artisan food and drinks. MyTime, closed since lockdown struck, reopened earlier this week, appearing unchanged on the outside but quite different inside.

Dugdale Centre reopens: Food and drink, gifts and a new art exhibition

The Dugdale Centre has awoken from its long enforced period of inactivity. The new opening hours are 11am to 3pm Monday to Friday. So far the Café, Gift Shop and Gallery have reopened, and on 14th July they will be followed by the Museum and Local Studies Centre. The gallery plays host to a new exhibition by Palmers Green artist Patrick Samuel celebrating what he enjoyed about lockdown and his eagerness to to paint during the period of isolation

Paid internships for young people wishing to help transform the food system

Feedback, an environmental organisation campaigning to transform the food system, is recruiting for a series of 15-week-long, 4 days per week, paid internships (£10.75 per hour) for young people (aged 18-24) based at Forty Hall Farm. Plus an additional internship placement in Barnet at GROW in Totteridge Academy

Over the last three months the food-focussed social enterprise that Palmers Green resident Clare Donovan runs - on top of her job teaching maths in a secondary school - has expanded beyond recognition and now fulfils a vital role in feeding people who would otherwise go hungry - more than 11,000 hot meals so far! This weekend Clare is offering you a unique chance to cook your own gourmet meal while supporting the invaluable work of Cooking Champions.

Our area has a rich selection of restaurants and take away outlets. We have had a huge choice of global cuisines from which to choose. But overnight all were forced to close - to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Imagine how desolate our area would be if, when the restrictions are eventually lifted, many were never to open again.

Enfield Veg Co: Temporary pickup points, taking on new customers

Enfield Veg Co, based at Forty Hall Farm, delivers weekly bags of fresh, organic veg to households all over Enfield and East Barnet. The Covid-19 emergency means that some of its usual dropoff points, such as Baskervilles in Palmers Green, are unavailable, but it is setting up temporary replacements located nearby. They are currently taking on new members on a first come, first served basis and are accepting up to 10 new members per week.

Zdeněk Kudr and Petr Skoček outside their brewery in Whittington RoadBohem Brewery, located in Palmers Green (just - it's in the Enfield part of Whittington Road) - has added more outlets for its excellent authentic Czech-style beers. There was a time when the only place where you could drink the Bohem beers was in the street at the monthly Myddleton Road Market or at the Prince, in Trinity Road, Wood Green.  Then Bohem opened their own Tap Room, which you can visit seven.......

Palmers Green Tales visits Old Bakery Gin

The latest Palmers Green Tales short film, made by Jenny Bourke and Susan Mehmet, tells the story of Old Bakery Gin.  It's filmed at the former flour store in Pymmes Mews which plumber Ian Puddick discovered had been an illegal distillery in Victorian times. As well as the high-end stockists mentioned in the film, Old Bakery Gin is now available in some local venues, including My Time in Palmers Green and the Winchmore in Winchmore Hill Road.  {youtube}cb2A1qlN66U{/youtube}.......

Forty Hall Vineyard now selling London's first organic sparkling wine

The vineyard says that London Sparkling Brut is perfect for Christmas drinking, but will also develop well with ageingForty Hall Vineyard has launched London Sparkling Brut 2015 - the first time a sparkling wine from the organic vineyard in Enfield has been made widely available. The 2014 vintage was declared best organic sparkling wine at the Soil Association's Best of Organic Market awards. London Sparkling Brut is made in the traditional method from the three classic champagne.......

Bowes Park brewers boost production to meet demand

Less than five months after opening its own Tap Room in Myddleton Road, Bowes Park's Bohem Brewery has had to install new brewing equipment to cope with demand for its authentic Czech lagers. The brewery is located in a former shop in Whittington Road.  The opening of the Tap Room in April and the resultant increase in sales meant that brewer Petr Skoček was able to give up his other job as a dustcart driver to concentrate on his real vocation.  Bohem beers are available not.......
