A mulberry tree, the richest man in England, and Broomfield House

On 7th January a group of the Friends of Broomfield Park and the Broomfield House Trust met to unveil a plaque recording the planting in 2010 of a mulberry tree in Broomfield Park by local historian Peter Brown. This may nitially seem slightly eccentric, but it has its roots in the history of Broomfield House

Broomfield Park friends celebrate a bumper year for community events

Friends of Broomfield Park are celebrating the end of an event-packed year for Palmers Green's favourite park, during which more than 13,000 people visited to take part in activities including music, theatre, dance, storytelling, well-being, apple tasting, food and much more. Dates of the 2020 events are already on the Friends' website.

Further funding for Broomfield Park netball courts refurbishment

UK's best park? Don’t forget Woodcroft Wildspace!

Last week Broomfield Park announced that it had been nominated for the UK's Best Park competition and encouraged Palmers Green residents to vote for it. However, there is another green space in the vicinity of Palmers Green that you should also continue supporting in this competition: Woodcroft Wildspace, the lovely nature reserve which lies between Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill.

60 years ago: New trains, a new school, a new garden for the blind and a famous Mayor

In 2019 we have been reporting about the introduction of new trains for Palmers Green and plans for new schools in the north west of the borough. 60 years ago PG was also celebrating new trains, and a new school was being built in Oakwood. And the Mayor at the time was someone whose name remains well known in Palmers Green. All this and more event in Broomfield Park can be discovered in Southgate Newsreel No 1.
