A 12-week consultation has begun giving residents an opportunity to give their views on proposals for cycle lanes along the A1010 between Ponders End and Freezy Water.   Meanwhile, Enfield's Cabinet will this week be asked to approve the start of detailed design work for the southern section of the A1010. A new campaigning group is calling for a fairer balance between cars, cycles, buses and pedestrians on Enfield's roads. Better Streets for Enfield supports the Cycle Enfield (Mini Holland) plans to boost cycling and walking rates by installing bike lanes, 'quieter neighbourhoods', and redesigned high streets. Cycle Enfield: Revised A105 plans to go on show

On 19th May Enfield Council will be exhibiting the final design plans for the A105 cycle lanes scheme, revised to take account of public feedback from the last consultation round.  The exhibition will be held at Palmers Green Library from 3pm to 8pm. On the evening of Wednesday 25 May there will be a co-design workshop for residents on the design of the public realm mprovements in Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill. Public consultation: Proposals to increase penalties for using a mobile phone while driving

The Department for Transport seeks feedback on proposed changes to penalties for the offence of using a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving. This consultation seeks feedback on proposals for increasing the fixed penalty notice (FPN) level from £100 to £150 for all drivers. It also invites views on increasing the penalty points from: 3 to 4 points for non-HGV drivers 3 to 6 points for those that hold a large goods vehicle (HGV) licence and commit the offence whilst driving.......

Cycle Enfield A105 proposals: Revised bus stop designs

Revised A105 cycle lane proposals to go to Cabinet next month

Following last week's meeting of the Enfield West Partnership Board, the revised proposals for cycle lanes along the A105 will be considered by Enfield Council's Cabinet on 10th February.  If, as seems likely, the proposals are approved, they will then be sent to Transport for London (TfL) for its approval.  If given the green light by TfL, the proposals will then be subject to a period of statutory public consultation. Cycle Enfield: Mayor of London calls for further consultation but stresses his continuing support

David Burrowes MP has published the text of a letter written to him by the Mayor of London following a meeting at which Mr Burrowes raised concerns about the Cycle Enfield scheme. David Burrowes MP has published the results of his unofficial "referendum", designed to gauge public support for the Enfield Council's proposals for cycle lanes along the A105.  Of the votes cast, 76 per cent were against the proposals, 18 per cent were in favour and 6 per cent were partially in favour. Enfield Council has published some initial analysis of the responses from members of the public to the A105 Cycle Enfield Scheme (see the box below). The analysis is very broad-brush, but one interesting fact that stands out is that respondents' highest priorities were pedestrian safety and air quality.  "Convenient car parking" was one of the lowest priorities.
